Aboriginal Maternal and Child Health (MCH) program

Description

The MCH service is a free service available to all Babies/Children who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander from pregnancy to school age.

It provides a choice for families to access the MCH service at the local Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation. The service is welcoming, respectful, and culturally safe. It is tailored towards individual needs, providing continuity of care and support.

Bendigo & District Aboriginal Co-operative’s (BDAC) MCHS provides:

  • Key age stage (KAS) consults based on growth and development,
  • Referrals within BDAC or to other health and wellbeing agencies,
  • Early years information on health and development,
  • Immunisations will be offered and given on KAS consults,
  • ‘Boorai Yarns’, a parents/carers’ group for new babies and their families.

Target Population
Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander families.
