The Transport Accident Commission (TAC) funds VicRoads L2P learner driver mentor program assists learners under 21 years of age, without access to a supervising driver or vehicle, to gain the 120 hours of driving experience required to apply for a probationary licence.

Young people are matched with fully licensed volunteer mentors and use a sponsored vehicle to gain supervised driving experience.

Target population

Young people under the age of 21 who meet the criteria.

Eligibility criteria

Prospective participants need to be:

  • Under 21 years of age,
  • Hold a current learner’s permit, and
  • Without access to either a vehicle, a supervising driver, or both

Referral pathway

L2P accepts self- referrals as well as referrals from any agency working with an eligible young person.
